El Dorado Reservoir and State Park
El
Dorado State Park is located just north and east of the city of El
Dorado, Kansas, on the edge of the scenic Flint Hills. The largest
state park in Kansas, its 4,400 acres sprawl along the eastern and
western shores of El Dorado Reservoir. The 8,000 acre reservoir has
approximately 98 miles of shoreline.
Popular
activities at El Dorado State Park are boating, swimming, fishing
and hunting, and the park provides 1100 campsites. Cabins are available
for rental year round. A large amphitheater accommodates a variety
of concerts and trail users will find a variety of attractions, including
a designated horse campground and seven trails.

YMCA
Built in 2003, after a community-wide capital campaign, the 43,000
square foot facility offers an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, personal
fitness center, workout studios, walking track and racquetball courts.
Choose activities from a full schedule of adult and youth programs,
including aerobics, yoga, youth sports, gymnastics and karate.

The City of El Dorado Parks and Recreation Department has a number
of facilities, including an Activity Center, Municipal Swimming Pool,
baseball and softball diamonds, roller hockey rink, tennis courts,
spray park, soccer fields and bike/pedestrian path. They offer a year-round schedule of
youth and adult activities, some in conjunction with the YMCA.

El
Dorado is home of two golf courses: The American Legion Golf Course
is a nine-hole public course located at 1801 W. Central. Phone (316)

Prairie
Trails Golf and Country Club
Prairie
Trails Golf and Country Club is located at 1100 Country Club Lane
in northeast El Dorado and features an 18-hole golf course. Prairie
Trails is reciprocal with other country clubs and has memberships

Museums
and Galleries

Coutts Memorial Museum of Art
If art or history is your interest, you will enjoy a number of unique
museums and galleries in El Dorado. Of particular interest are the
Coutts Memorial Museum of Art, Butler County Historical Society and
Kansas Oil Museum and the El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame Museum.
In addition, many wonderful sculptures are located throughout our
El Dorado Main Street District in beautiful downtown El Dorado. For

Throughout
the year, the Community of El Dorado enjoys many special events from
festivals to church socials to car shows. Those drawing the largest
crowds are the Prairie Port Festival, in July, the Open
Car Show, in September, en plein air art fair, in October
and Celebration of Freedom Veterans Day celebration, in November.
